Party of 5

Babies, Children
This gorgeous baby made his entrance a few weeks early to complete his family of 5. As always happens when I photograph babies, he decided he wasn't interested in photos.  We had a rough hour of fussiness and crying but after a second feeding and a warm cocoon, he was out and didn't care how many pictures I snapped. Also as usual, I didn't want to put the baby down. I can never seem to get enough of the newborns, I'm fascinated with how their tiny bodies still prefer to be tightly compacted as they were in the womb. Newborns are simply amazing. I loved this little guy! Although his mom was super tired (she now has 3 children after all) she smiled the whole time she held him, and…

Beautiful Babies

Babies, Children, Family
I really loved this session. The minute I walked in the door this little guy was showing me his Christmas tree and asking me to take pictures of his Perry the Platypus ornament (since I'm a Phineas and Ferb fan I was happy to oblige). I got the tour of his room and got to see all of his toys. I thought, wow, this is going to be a piece of cake, he's very comfortable with me. Famous last words, right? After two pictures he declared, "I'm done. Let's go play."  Thankfully he was easily distracted and as long as he could play while I took little sister's photos, he was happy. Little Miss is so darn cute, I loved her peach bow and fur vest! When mom told me dad…

Baby Makes 5!

Babies, Children, Family
I originally met this mom when I photographed her sweet little boys at their preschool. She volunteered to help on photo day even though she was scheduled to have a baby in a few days. The first two pics are the "school pictures" that I took of her little guys.  She called me a few weeks later after the arrival of her new bundle of joy wanting a photo that would be similar to the boys' photos from school so she could display them together. We met up for a quick mini session near their home hoping to get a family pic and a few of the baby. We ended up putting baby in the metal bin so the pictures would be somewhat unified, being just two weeks old she…

Maddy

Babies
What a beautiful baby! My daughter didn't have that much hair at 2 years, I can't believe this cutie was born with these gorgeous locks. I usually like to photography newborns before 10 days because they sleep so soundly in the early days. This little princess did anything but sleep soundly. It took everything I had to coax her to sleep and I had to hold her in the position I wanted for a LONG time before she feel asleep for a whole 5 seconds. Her cries were more than made up for when she let me hold her after the photos were done and she slept, well, like a baby.   We didn't get as many photos as I would have liked but the ones we got were gems. I'm looking forward to…

9 Weeks

Babies, Uncategorized
It seems like a week ago that I  did some newborn pics of this little guy and now he's already 9 weeks, where does the time go?!  He is just learning to smile and though it took a lot of coaxing, I got a few great ones!  I loved his little monkey hat but let's just say he wasn't as fond of it as I was. I'm looking forward to another session soon, I can't get enough of this little guy.  Thanks for sharing him with me for an hour and letting me hold him much longer than necessary for photos!

Cupid | I Heart Faces Photo Challenge

Babies, Children, Photo Challenge, Uncategorized
The theme over at I Heart Faces this week is Hearts in honor of Valentines Day. Normally I'm not one to take photos with many backdrops & props.  Must have been all that sweet baby pudginess screaming "cupid" to me that made me pull out the fabric and craft supplies to fashion arrows, wings and a diaper. The arrows kept him busy for a few shots but his toes held the real interest. There were several cute pics from this shoot but this one with his toes was my favorite. This little cupid made me fall in love.  You can check out the other entries at I Heart Faces by using the link below.

8 Days

Babies, Children
Nothing like a newborn baby to turn you to mush! I didn't want to put this sweet baby down to take her photos, I could have held her all day. She wide awake, especially for only being 8 days old, and I tried to imagine what she was thinking as she looked around her new world with such wonder in her eyes. Baby is simply beautiful. Mom and Dad were exhausted but had a perpetual smile on their faces. Their love for each other and their sweet bundle of joy was obvious, a perfect family of three.
