United

I don’t normally photograph events, especially not weddings. As a beginner, the thought of messing up someone’s once-in-a-lifetime wedding photos is too much for me to handle. But this bride happens so be my cousin and she convinced me I was capable since this was a simple ceremony on the beach with a few friends and family. I was very reluctant (I worried for days about messing up the photos) but looking back I am happy I was able to capture some great moments from her wedding day and the experience was invaluable. The beach was beautiful but the cold winds that day were not, we were freezing! To the point that the bride and groom didn’t even want to take any photos after the quick ceremony. But because of the weather the beach was deserted and their ceremony was intimate and very personal.

My cousin and her new husband are truly made for each other. They have known each other since high school but it took a whole lot of years in between then and now before they became a couple. They were blessed with a sweet baby boy a year ago.  Not to tell you their life story, but…  This little baby was wanted more than you can know but there were many things that made it seem like a baby would not be in the cards. But as we are often told, sometimes just wanting is not enough. We need to be patient, and wait for the right time. And while we think the time is right, we often gain some perspective at a later date and learn that we didn’t see the whole picture.  And looking back, the situation and timing weren’t right for a baby. But then a wonderful woman reconnected with an amazing guy, and while unexpected, this little boy came at the perfect time, with the perfect person, and against medical odds. Sometimes we just need to trust. So now these great people have united to become not just husband and wife, but a beautiful family. Congrats and love to you all!
